The new 2023 Ford F-150 Raptor R makes its official debut and now we have a leaked order guide for it and the rest of the latest 2023 F-150 lineup. Also, this gives us a great opportunity to compare the new 2023 Raptor line to the Ram TRX offerings. Let’s dig into all of the details.
The original 1st-generation Ford Raptor was born with a V8 back in 2010. Actually, it had two V8 engine options: a 5.4L or a 6.2L V8 that later took over. Our very first TFLtruck long-term test pickup truck was a 2014 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor. It was a crew cab with a 6.2L V8. We kept that truck for nearly three years and put around 55,000 hard-driven miles on it.
As the years went on, Ford introduced the second generation of the Raptor as a 2017 model. This truck had a new reinforced chassis, an all-aluminum body, updated suspension, and a twin-turbocharged 3.5L H.O. V6 engine. The F-150 Raptor continued to be very successful, but many enthusiasts longed for the return of a V8-powered off-road truck. Now, the V8 Raptor returns as a 2023 model with a monster of an engine.
Under the hood of the 2023 Raptor R is a supercharged 5.2L “Predator” V8 engine with a rating of 700 horsepower and 640 lb-ft of torque. It’s mated to a traditional 10-speed automatic transmission with a unique torque converter that can handle all this power.
Here is the information based on the leaked 2023 Ford F-150 order guide, including the price list (via the F150gen14.com forum). The guide lists the 2023 F-150 Raptor starting price at $75,775 (before destination charges). The Raptor R package is listed under the 802A option code for an additional $31,575. This put the Raptor R’s starting price at $107,350 before the $1,795 destination charge or a total of $109,145.
