How does a new and refreshed 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 Trail Boss Duramax diesel compare to an old GMC K2500 4×4 truck on our tough (and getting tougher every time) Pond off-road trail? Let’s find out!
Tommy and David are at it again at our Tumbleweed Ranch. It’s another challenging old vs new episode. The new truck is a refreshed Silverado 1500 Trail Boss that features a new front-end design, new interior, and a 3.0-liter Duramax turbo-diesel I6 engine. This engine has lots of low-end torque (460 lb-ft and 277 horsepower). The Trail Boss has a 2-inch suspension lift from the factory, 32-inch Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac tires and an automatic G80 locking rear differential.
The old heavy-duty GMC truck that belongs to David does not have too many off-road specific modification. It packs a traditional large displacement V8 under the hood that also has a great deal of low-end torque.
Check out the video below for all the muddy off-road fun. Note: some trail damage was done during the making of this video, however both trucks were able to drive away and see another day.
