Here is an up-close and personal look at the new Ram 1500 Outdoorsman concept truck from the SEMA show. This is part of our ‘TFL SEMA Insider’ video series that we publishing from the show. While Ram had an Outdoorsman trim in the past, this newest concept vehicle is showcasing several existing and several concept parts and accessories.
This 5.7L HEMI V8-powered Ram 1500 crew cab sits on a Mopar 2-inch suspension lift and 35-inch all-terrain tires. This lift kit is currently available for sale. The front of the truck features a concept bumper extension and four off-road lights mounted to it. Things get even more interesting when you get inside the truck. This concept vehicle is based on a Big Horn model. It has six-person seating and a new front center console with a slide-out table/work surface.
Underneath the rear seat is a built-in vacuum system. This is still a concept part as well. This may be the first OEM pickup truck project truck with an integrated vacuum. This could come in very useful to clean up dog hair.
In the back, there is a new multi-level bed rack system that works with the Ram Boxes (bedside-mounted cargo boxes). This bed rack is still a concept part. The tailgate includes a new track system with clamps that can be used at the job site or any other task. Inside the bed are two independent sliding cargo trays. Ram says each slide is capable to handle up to 2,000 lbs. Naturally, this would be way beyond the payload capacity of this Ram 1500.
