We know that #vanlife adventure vehicles are very popular. There are a lot of options out there, so how do you know which one is best for you? Kase recently took a deep dive into this subject with the help of Jonathan from FieldVans. Jonathan and Kase take a close look at a new Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 4×4, a new Ford Transit AWD, and a custom Ford E-Series 4×4 conversion.
Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 4×4
The Mercedes Sprinter 4×4 is a diesel-powered full-size van that can be configured in several different lengths and roof heights. It is one of the more fuel-efficient options. It also offers a high and low-range 4×4 system that can take you over a variety of terrain. It also has a comfortable and welcoming driver’s compartment. The van with a pop-top tent you see in this video has a retail price of around $180,000.
Ford Transit AWD
The new Ford Transit AWD is another very popular option. Ford added all-wheel-drive capability to the Transit within the last two years. The Transit’s driver area has also been recently upgraded. The new Transit also comes in a variety of lengths and roof heights. It offers a very powerful 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 that is very similar to the one in the Ford F-150. The one you see here is retailing at around $150,000.
Ford E-Series 4×4
Ford stopped making Econoline full-size vans a while back. However, they still manufacturer E-Series chassis cabs. Companies such as Field Van convert these chassis cabs to 4×4 and build their own customized camper bodies in the back. This heavy-duty van comes with a new 7.3-liter “godzilla” gas V8 and Ford’s 6-speed automatic transmission. All of the customized bodywork and a fully-featured camper body raise the overall price. This Field Van Canyon van can retail at upwards of $250,000.
