Hera are several more up close images of the 2023 Toyota Sequoia prototypes. It appears that the next generation of Toyota’s full-size three-row SUV is quickly moving along its development and testing process. We don’t know for sure, but it may make its official world debut in the first half of 2022.

Big thanks to Jens B. who sent these to us. Jens says: “I saw this group in Phoenix, AZ this afternoon. The group included a de-badged 2022 Toyota Tundra and two Ford Expeditions.

If Toyota is indeed comparing its next big SUV against the Ford Expedition, why not also compare against the Chevy Tahoe? Chevrolet Tahoe is the best-seller in this segment. While manufacturers do all of their homework while designing a new generation of any vehicle, the Ford Expedition SUVs are powered by a powerplant that is similar to what the Sequoia is expected to use. Namely, a twin-turbocharged 3.5L V6.

The Sequoia is rumored to share the same powertrain as in the 2022 Toyota Tundra. This new twin-turbo V6 engine is rated at 389 hp and 479 lb-ft of torque in the Tundra. It will like be rated the same in the Sequoia.

Stay tuned as we learn more about the upcoming 2023 Toyota Sequoia.
