Video: Toyota Transformed The Tacoma SR5 with This One Useful Feature, Here’s Why It Matters!

It's the difference between being stuck or driving away.

2022 toyota tacoma sr5 trail off-road review

Tommy takes the new 2022 Toyota Tacoma SR5 Trail edition into the wilderness. This trim level leans toward the more affordable end of the spectrum. It offers several special touches and one very game-changing feature. Here is what it’s all about.

The latest Trail edition of the Tacoma has several appearance differences. The most obvious is the bronze-colored off-road wheels. This wheel design is also available on the Tacoma TRD Off-Road and the TRD Pro. The “TOYOTA” script in the grille might make you think that this is the TRD Pro, but it’s not. The grille and badges are blacked out on this model as well.

In the back, there are two storage boxes inside the bed. One of these is insulated and can act as a cooler. This Tacoma 4×4 is equipped with a low-range transfer case, but there is something else!

Before you had to option up to a TRD Off-Road or a TRD Pro trim of the Tacoma to get the locking rear differential. Now, it’s available on this more affordable SR5 Trail edition. This is indeed a very big deal because it can be the difference between being stuck and driving out of a tough obstacle or a snowdrift.
