20 years ago, Jutta Kleinschmidt became the first (and only) woman to win Dakar.

Now, the Rebelle Rally prepared Mitsubishi Outlander pays homage wearing similar livery. Mitsubishi will enter the 2021 Rebelle Rally with their 2022 Outlander, wearing a similar livery that the winning Pajero wore in Dakar, two decades past. This is hard hitting nostalgia for Dakar fans, as Mitsubishi still holds many records in Dakar, including the most overall victories. Now, they’re hoping that this winning mojo will work its way into the Rebelle Rally.

The Rebelle Rally is a multi-day off-road navigation-focused event that was created specifically for women, and it runs over 1,200 miles through parts of Nevada and Southern California. Many of TFL Studios’ friends have participated in the past, including Nena Barlow and Emmy Hall. This is a challenging rally, that relies on accuracy and grit over speed and bravado.

Mitsubishi Motors North America (MMNA) announced it will enter a 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander in this year’s Rebelle Rally, and unveiled a rendering of the vehicle. The paint scheme pays tribute to a Dakar Rally win twenty years ago. That’s when Jutta Kleinschmidt drove a Mitsubishi Pajero to victory in 2001.

Of the Dakar-liveried SUV, COO Mark Chaffin said, “The successful launch of our all-new flagship vehicle, the 2022 Outlander, Returning to the Rebelle with an Outlander inspired by that Dakar-winning Pajero is a fitting tribute to our history. a powerful statement about our ongoing commitment to women’s achievement, and the exciting future ahead for our brand.

MMUSA has been involved in the Rebelle Rally since 2019. Mitsubishi has seen some success in the Rebelle Rally’s recent past. They scored podiums on two occasions, one of which was a third place finish in the event’s first PHEV. MMNA’s continuing charity of choice is the “Small Batch – Big Impact” program. This program allows the automaker, and its dealer partners to facilitate a series of vehicle loans. These loans can help small nonprofits to help support local communities.

According to the event planners, the 2021 Rebelle Rally is scheduled for Oct. 7-16.

Driver information, along with other details will be announced in the near future.
