We recently purchased this 2021 Subaru Crosstrek for an upcoming long-term video series. We want to figure out exactly how good it is off-road, and if we can improve it. Naturally, we will be doing other challenges and real-world test with this Crosstrek: mpg and range tests, road trips, and long-term reviews.
This Crosstrek is equipped with a base 2.0-liter boxer four-cylinder engine with 152 horsepower and 145 lb-ft of torque. This engine is mated to a CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) and to Subaru’s AWD system. Subaru says the Crosstrek has 8.7 inches of ground clearance, which is still a good number for any soft-roader crossover or SUV.
This car is all stock and has the tires that came with it from the factory. In this first off-road video, Roman takes to Tombstone Hill in Colorado – which is a mountain trail at an elevation of over 8,000 feet above sea level. He pushes it to the limit. Watch as he uses all of the off-road equipped the Crosstrek has to offer. He also uses speed and momentum to overcome certain obstacles.
