Does this Jeepster Commando look unique to you? It should because it’s actually a Jeepster Beach Concept created by Jeep for the 2021 Easter Jeep Safari event in Moab, Utah. It’s actually a “resto-mod”. This concept is based on a new Jeep Wrangler JL platform, and there is a modded 2.0-liter turbocharged I4 engine under the hood!
On the outside, it’s a mostly stock-looking 1968 Jeepster Commando (C-101). Underneath is a fully modern chassis, powertrain, and suspension. The interior has a fun-loving beach style with bright fabrics and elements. The latest 2.0-liter turbocharged gas engine has been tuned by SRT to produce a healthy 340 horsepower. This is significantly more than the 270 hp available in the production version of this engine.
What do you think, is this “resto-mod” simply the coolest or is it very strange to see a small displacement turbo engine in a Jeep from the 1960s?
We get to drive it! Check it out!
