Have you wondered how fast-moving action shots come to life! One way is to use a Polaris RZR Turbo S as a platform for a very high-resolution camera system. The RZR provides a compliant ride over some of the roughest terrain, and the Black Wing rig does the rest. In this video, we learn pretty much everything there is to know about a movie-making setup like this.
The Red 8K-resolution camera, lense, and a large 3-D gimbal together weigh approximately 60-75 lbs. The long motorized arm is remote-controlled. In the back, there is a large counter-weight system. Counter ballast can range from 100 lbs to over 200 lbs, depending on how heavy the camera and gimbal are on the other side.
It’s common to use a camera crew of four people to get the perfect shot. The team consists of: the driver, the arm operator, the gimbal & camera operator, and a camera assistant who can control camera’s focus and other functions. It’s critical for the entire team to be on the same page at all times. This is why they have four view monitors inside the RZR. They also have two-way communication gear.
Once everything is working and the team is in place, the scene is filmed according to plan.
