Alta officially suspended its operations late in 2018, and its clear that the brand’s parent company is trying to sell off whatever assets they can to try and get some of their losses back. That’s where BRP comes in.
Although the dollar amount isn’t disclosed, BRP says that it has purchases “intellectual property, patents and some limited physical assets from the former all-electric motorcycle design and manufacturing company.”
The knowledge and assets purchases will complement what the development work that BRP is already doing and the brand made clear that it has no intention os starting up Alta Motors once again.
While no specific applications were mentioned, BRP points out that is has built a number of hybrid prototypes of the Can-Am Spyder, a possible use for all this electric technology.
